Pennsylvania forged metal with elements of thrash, groove, hardcore and more, topped with melodic, aggressive vocals.
FROM THESE ASHES began creating their versatile mixture of aggressive, melodic sound in July 2003. Not content with their past musical directions, the members brought together years of experience writing, touring & recording in the common goal of crafting hard edged music that would connect with the public on a primitive and streetwise, yet personal & intellectual level. Drawing influence from the past four decades worth of various genres, the band's material showcased strong musicianship and technical songwriting, entertaining concert attendees and club patrons hungry for something fresh and original. The band's work ethic was highly admirable. Within their first 3 years they had released 3 studio CD's and a 4th with live material. 6 weeks after forming, the band recorded their 6 song debut "Severed Wings". They then hit the road in support of the CD, playing wherever, whenever and with whomever they could. FTA suffered a set back when they lost original bassist Pat Chambers in October 2004. January 2005 saw the group back in the studio with new bassist Ben Shutter and newly added second guitarist Vinnie Calvario recording the follow up "Depending On A False Tomorrow". Keeping up their churning pace, "Scarred For Life" (the band's 3rd CD) was released in April 2006. Yet another obstacle presented itself later that month as the band dealt with the departure of longtime bassist Ben Shutter . FTA found a quick replacement in new bassist Josh Potter without missing any shows and had an even stronger resolve to write, record & tour. After nearly 2 and a half years of heavy touring up and down the East coast, from Buffalo to Philadelphia, New York to Cleveland, and many places in between, the band said goodbye to lead guitarist Vinnie Calvario in July 2008. March 2009 brought the heavy-hearted departure of founder, manager & lead singer Jason Potter. In July 2009, the band reunited for what would ultimately be the final FTA performance to date. Aaron, Jon and Josh carried on with other endeavors but the book was and has remained closed on FTA. FROM THESE ASHES entertained the live music seeking public from September 2003 to July 2009. They had a vast catalog of material which afforded them the opportunity to keep their set lists fresh for audiences. The band was fortunate enough to have shared the stage with many great bands, including major label recording artists such as Ill Nino, God Forbid, HavocHate (former members of Slayer & Testament), Dope, Suicide City (former Biohazard & Kittie members), Bleed The Sky (Nuclear Blast Records), Five Bolt Main (former members of Flaw and Darwin's Waiting Room), The Autumn Offering (Victory Records), Brand New Sin (Century Media), Dog Fashion Disco & many more. In addition to the great response FTA's albums gained live and online at such sites as MySpace, SoundClick, and PureVolume, their CD's also enjoyed airplay on Elmira NY's WNGZ 104.9, Ithaca NY's WVBR 93.5, Geneva NY's 89.7 FM, and Limestone NY's WKEG 104.7 to name a few. Thanks to the internet and appearances in select magazines like Metal Maniacs, the band gained fans not only nationwide, but worldwide.

FAMILY TRAGEDY CD: Scarred For Life - Track: 5 - Music: From These Ashes - Lyrics: Jason Potter I can't take this abuse in my mind no, it's just no use Incomplete since you've gone away, everyday I still see your face And you're smiling looking at me as the tears flow, roll down my face I can hear you calling for me are you still there? Are you watching? This tragedy still fresh in my mind and in my soul Feelings of depression are struggling for control CHORUS YOU'RE GONE BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN YOU'LL ALWAYS BE A PART OF ME They say time heals all wounds but that just isn't the way It's been 10 years this month and still seems like yesterday CHORUS YOU'RE GONE BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN YOU'LL ALWAYS BE A PART OF ME DEEP IN MY HEART THAT'S WHERE I CAN FIND YOU THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU GAVE TO ME BRIDGE Nothing can erase these memories Nothing can erase this pain in me Nothing can erase these memories Nothing can erase this pain inside of me Nothing can erase this pain in me Are you still there watching over me?
