Southern gospel twangabilly in Drop D with a banjo............
Dale Haywood is a singer/songwriter from Colora, Maryland. After several cover bands and years of live gigs Dale decided to attempt recording his own songs. With the help of several friends, Dale has recorded a large catalogue of original music. His music covers everything from Country to Blues to Rock, but all of it has a heavy southern influence. Most of the recordings were created in his home studio and none of them would have been possible without the generosity and creativity of some very talented friends. Dale continues to write, record, and occasionally perform his music whenever given the opportunity.
Story behind the song
This is a song about a man facing Hell's fire and realizes that he has wasted his life and has run out of time.
Lyrics
No Halo
Cold, stone, wall … hard against his back
Nowhere to turn, another train outta track
Demons all around, holdin’ him back
Searchin’ for the truth, keeps runnin’ into fact
Now he stands empty handed, starin’ down a road
Nothin’ to go back to, he’s got nowhere to go
The hardest thing for a man to admit is what he already knows
No dreams, no tomorrow, no wings, no halo
A cornered man, needin’ to lash out
Wantin’ to get out, got nowhere to run
Finally realizes it’s the end of the line
Clock’s run outta time, he knows his day is done
Now he’s starin’ down the barrel, on the losin’ end
Finally figured out, it’s where he’s always been
One thing that he’s sure of, what he’s always known
No dreams, no tomorrow, no wings, no halo
-SOLO-
A marble stone, screamin’ out his name
Graveyard all alone, his last claim to fame
Demons all around, holdin’ him back
Searched for the truth, now he ran smackdab into the middle of fact
And he stands empty handed, starin’ down a road
Nothin’ to go back to, he’s got nowhere to go
The hardest thing for a man to admit is what he already knows
No dreams, no tomorrow, no wings, no halo
No wings, no halo
C’mon
