Mark Walker's debut solo CD, DYSFUNCTIONAL ILLAUREATE, covers a wide range of mood and texture, touching on the hard & angst-ridden to the slow and ethereal. CD
Hey. So this is who I am and what I do: My name's Mark Walker. I write songs, sing and play them. Bass is my main instrument when playing out live, but I also include guitar & drums and some samples & loops for the recorded material. I started playing music as a kid when I lived in Portland, OR, and continued on up in Seattle, WA during the '90's and now I'm continuing here in New York City. Right now I perform as a solo artist, but I'm also looking to get a band together to play out live as well. Feel free to drop a line if you're a guitarist or drummer and want to hook up and play sometime.

Story behind the song
This is an outside look at someone with the self-loathing syndrome.
Lyrics
Blind Road The blind road you won't take Will lead you to protection The road you choose to take Will lead you to destruction Submersed in deep blue sea You know your ship is sinking You're a red flag waving high But I don't know what you're thinking You're only human, why crucify yourself? No more than human, can you deny yourself? The water from the stream All spills before you pour it I reach to pull you free But you choose to ignore it You're only human, why crucify yourself? No more than human, can you deny yourself? Scattered at your feet The pictures that remind you A mask that we once wore Bloodstains that trail behind you You're only human, why crucify yourself? No more than human, can you deny yourself? The blind road you won't take Will lead you to protection
