smooth original deep
Simple Connexion singer-songwriters creating compositions and cover derivatives using the groovy vibrations of 60's-70's pop, folk, soft-rock, and harmonies.
Claude Larivière was born and raised on Le Plateau Mont-Royal, Québec. At the age of 14, he retrieved a sleeping guitar from a shelf in his Father’s closet and then following a few turns of the needle on the White Album his musical journey began. Jyl’s musical experience began by inheriting her musician Father's love and genes for music. She was introduced at a very early age to the world of guitar strumming, country ballads, rockin' swing, vocal harmonies, the blues, and singing from the heart. Simple Connexion is the result of Jyl & Claude's love of music and the authentic connection it brings with others. The covers and derivatives they perform are with intent to honor those great artists of the ’60s and ’70s. Simple Connexion’s originals are influenced by that decade’s pop, rock, folk, and folk-rock. Their lyrics speak of deep feelings and personal experiences that, hopefully, others can easily connect with.

Story behind the song
Reading this poem I heard music and created an arrangement. Five years passed with our fair share of ups and downs. The song project was put on a shelf with others. However, the melody I had created stayed ever present and began beckoning to me to let it out. So I guess that every creative piece either in form of song, book, sculpture, painting or poem is manifested to life through a sequence of moments and is completed only when the time is right for it. Yes, another epiphany.
Lyrics
Epiphany I had always thought, being taught That all things around us are transitory Slipping away into Unimportance as soon As we try to put our hands Around them and hold them always Close to us. CHORUS: Now I see I was wrong: We are the ones that leave the party first And this paperweight, this stone that I treasure and have placed in the sun on the window sill above the sink, will be here long after my Winter-small shadow has pulled up its legs from the late afternoon snow bank and walked away CHORUS: Now I see I was wrong: We are the ones that leave the party first
