Story behind the song
Jeff wrote the lyrics and music. Dave selected from around 8 verses, which ones he liked the best. Jeff put together rough tracks drums/guitar/bass and Dave had the inspiration to go with a nylon string for both his rhythm and lead which allowed the song to head in a more jazz influenced directions.
The song itself is about realizing that you can not ALWAYS shelter your family from the pain of life. We'd love to take it all on ourselves and have our kids NEVER get hurt and all our in-laws live forever, but that's not the reality of this world. So we have to be there for one another.
