Iris opens on a Private Eye hunched over the desk in their otherwise empty office, engrossed in the construction of a monument to procrastination assembled out of discarded cigarette butts... shadows yawn across the room as the sun sets behind the city... a closed case-file with rings stained on the cover lies on the desk alongside a cold coffee mug set next to the ashtray... as the last shred of sunlight makes way for the arrival of the shroud of night, the dull illumination from the solitary bulb in the hallway outside casts a shadowy figure on the etched glass of the Detective's door, drawing closer... the Gumshoe caught unawares by this endless evening masquerading as an ordinary lackadaisical day.
