You might hear smatterings of Floyd/Waters/Gilmour, a touch of Mike Nesmith, some Metheny, maybe even some Vangelis or 80's pop, classic rock, sheer noise, Air, Terje Rypdal, and if you really stretch in order to make us seem more relevant to the times, maybe some of The Shins, Sigur Ros, etc. Basically anything that makes a noise can inspire us.

Story behind the song
Just after sunrise, Sally gets in her old Rambler and without looking at her girlfriend for fear of changing her mind, speeds down the dirt road in a cloud of dust. Not long after, her partner awakens and realizes Sally is gone for good. Probably the 1st real collaborative collaboration since the old Millikin days, hence the breakdown of which of us wrote what. The first two choruses John had to wear too-small jeans. So of course the last chorus had to be taken up a whole step or a third or whatever; then he had to add a hernia belt and an extra-small athletic supporter with spikes on the inside. Thank you, Sunshine, for your kind contribution of your gorgeous bridge vocals. Hope it was as fun for you as it was for us. (Version #2 with different guest vocal hopefully coming soon, pending their go-ahead)
