an old song of mine re-imagined
rock piano vocals harmony funk jazz instrumental blues experimental rhythm and blues improvisation multi genre
Hi! I'm a guitarist, singer and songwriter currently living in Fredericton, N.B., Canada. I've been performing music in one way or another since the mid '60's, starting out singing tenor in a barbershop quartet with my brothers and then into a progression of bands playing rock, jazz, blues and country and... whatever. It's been a fun ride so far and I'm still as exited about it as the day I began. Ralph Atkinson

Story behind the song
I wrote the lyrics to this about 20 years ago and they were attached to another song entirely. The chorus lyrics are new. Strangely enough the melody and phrasing is still pretty much intact from the original even though the instrumentation for this version was for the most part complete before I'd given any thought to lyrics or melody.
Lyrics
Laying in your bed, staring at the ceiling, wheeling a thousand thoughts in your head but one keeps coming back and you can't seem to shake the feeling that someone's staring straight into your heart but don't you be alarmed now, baby 'cause it all flows down from above and you don't need no lessons in love and if you hear the wind cry your name at night as you pinch yourself awake go on back to sleep and if you catch yourself laughing out loud all alone in the middle of the day well, you're not goin' crazy 'cause it all flows down from above and you don't need no lessons in love when what you feel and what you think are in a tug of war and just when you think your thoughts have won your feelings come back for more then you know for sure 'cause it all flows down from above and you don't need no lessons in love
